What about sending the many EU criminals clogging up our prisons and costing money, how were we getting on with that?

How about denying access to the UK those with a criminal record to prevent them carrying out crimes here, how were we getting on with that?

The Germans doing something locally is NOT an indication that the EU was or is willing to change Pickle. Only a fool would think it was.

Re: Anyone betting on where the pound is going?
Johnson.

The German's have a bill going through the bundestag to give foreign EU workers access to German social security only after five years of work and contributions. They are either going to put it through their parliament and make it law or not. They are not going to discuss it at European level simply because it is not a European matter.

This is exactly what Cameron heard as regards reform of UK labour market and social security when he went to Brussels - that's your business. Sort it out yourself because we have the principle of freedom of movement - is what he heard.

Do you understand?

Alvin,

My kids standard of living will depend on their hard work and ability to take opportunities. There is nothing wrong with that.

A8- shame your govt is not ready or qualified to run the country again, yet another big cock up from your lot, that we will face the consequences of poor management.

Re: Anyone betting on where the pound is going?
One of the things people conveniently forget is in the lead up to the announcement of the referendum and the referendum itself, the U.K. had failed to achieve pretty much any of the reforms we were after and the ones that were allowed were held to ransom in lieu of an in vote with firm no commitment on them either.

The EU did not and does not want to change, that will be its biggest downfall in the end.

The pound will be at 1.2 vs the Dollar.

The fundamental issue is are we going to be better off out of the EU or not?

Right now it is too early to say but I am happy we are going to take control of our country again.

Where, in the Bible, does it say all offspring must have a better standard of living than their parents?

Claret,

I ma not have understood you quite, but it sounds like you're not bothered if your kids have a lower standard of living than you. Is that right?

Swiss, loads needs changing - lower pound, lower house prices, less imports, less reliance on the crooked banking sector and it's cronies, less uncontrolled immigration, increase in manufacturing here, less EU interference in doing business.

Yes it hurts and we can't all buy flash cars and live in big houses with our property portfolios anymore. The country needs to change for my kids and their kids in the future. It will do them no harm to have to watch what they spend and not have it all. This country is bust like many others in Europe.
This country has become a hostage to bankers, overseas countries and faceless fat cats.

Re: Anyone betting on where the pound is going?
Swiss, we WERE(/are still) in it and couldn't change it. The best we ever achieved was being bought off with a "rebate".

What needs to change?

Well, the CAP & a whole swathe of import tariffs for a start. Not so much changed as scrapped completely. Will never happen with the EU in it's present form as the people who benefit most from the CAP & these tariffs are the people pulling the strings. You know - Turkeys, Christmas and a vote...that sort of set-up.

The EU id not perfect but being in it can change it. if we don't get the same kind of Trade agreements we currently have we will suffer. These are facts.

But really what needed changing as I hear this a lot?

We're going to have to invest our spare cash in businesses that export stuff. If you do thst you may end up better off.

Re: Anyone betting on where the pound is going?
..."All I know was that change was needed ..."

Bang on, that line. Nailed on the EU would never change even if the 13 most powerful members wanted it - the other 14 had/have the power to say "Fuck you and where's (y)our money?"

You can keep asking, you can keep talking, but while your doing those things change never happens (and the remain-esque people keep getting their way as if it were a divine right).

The EU needed, seriously & urgently needed, a swift kick in the bollocks, which is basically what the out vote was.

Whether or not that kick triggers a dormant but malignant cancer that goes on to kill the EU is another matter and now really of no concern to the UK unless enough people insist on clinging on in a way a dog does to it's dead master.

Re: Anyone betting on where the pound is going?
there's no real logic or plan behind this we're going to lose 66 billion a year and have a very tough few year but we'll be stronger for it. Will we?

Sure exports are cheaper now but we import from the EU far more than we export. These will be more expensive like cars as will be Southern European hols.

Your standard of living is about to go down hill big time especially when you are filling in for the Pole who empty bed paid for 2 quid an hour.

The Brexshitters voted for an ideal..lol No economic sense

Don't listen to Willtell he's been going on for years how the EU is going to collapse etc.

Spot on. I always said to my family that the change will cause a lot of problems in the short term but I still believe we can come out of this as a stronger country.

It could take up to a decade to settle down so all this screaming a few months after the vote and before we've even triggered an exit is premature and ridiculous.
Will things get worse before they get better? Very likely. There will be a lot of new opportunities created though. The clever ones will be those who use the change to benefit them.
